What does it take to
start the blueprint process?
Once you find the home
you want and we work the quote, then we submit the floor plans along with a
check for $1000, the amount credited back to purchase price when house is
shipped. This locks in your purchase price for a year. You will have 3
preliminary drawings to make changes on. Now you are ready for construction
blueprints.

Is there any kind of warranty?
Tidewater Red
Cypress is a very dense wood due to its growth in water. It creates Cypressene,
a natural oil substance that makes the wood resistant to rot and termite
infestation. The wood is very durable and has minimal shrinkage and warping,
tendencies common in most other wood species. Tidewater Red Cypress is a very
stable wood. We are so convinced of its superior performance and suitability
that we offer a 60 year limited warranty in writing against rot, decay and
termite infestation.

Do
you kiln dry your logs?
Tidewater Red Cypress
logs are air dried at the mill. These logs will stabilize at a moisture content
equal to the humidity in the area you are building in. (All woods will take on
the humidity content in the area where the home is being built.)

How
are the logs shipped?
The company uses
random length logs. We do this for the following reasons:
a. All
corners are pre-cut at the mill.
b. If you have a damaged log, you just move onto the next log. (You do not have
to
wait for a new log to be sent to you before you can continue on.)
c. We use random length logs so changes to plans can be made easily on the job
site.
Note: Pre-cut and preassembled packages have these features. When they
shrink, they are too short and leave gaps. When a log gets damaged, you are
finished with construction until you receive a new log.

What kind of wood is supplied?
Our logs come from the
heart of the Tidewater Red Cypress Tree that grows in the swamps and wetlands of
the Southern Gulf and Eastern Coastal Regions.
How is the wood graded?
B.K. Cypress takes
great pride in the products they use. All of our logs are graded by wood
inspectors at B.K. Cypress. Our inspectors go through an intense training
program given by the Timbers Products Inspection Organization (T.P.I.). When you
purchase our logs, you can rest easy knowing that our logs, timbers and beams
will meet all the standards required by the T.P.I for structural supports.
The logs are grading according to these 7 factors:
-
Straightness
-
Natural degradation
-
Knots
-
Slope of grain
-
Check and splits
-
Holes
-
Scarring
